With the rapid development of science and technology, the EDB has been actively promoting STEM education through the Curriculum Development Institute, equip students to meet the needs of future technological development. 

To enhance students' interest and creativity in science and technology, the Association of Parents and Teachers of all districts in the territory organized the invitation to Hong Kong District Presidents' Associations, VTC STEM Education Centre and Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Engineering and Information Technology Discipline) co-organized "The Preparatory Committee for the Hong Kong Secondary Innovation and Technology Competition 2018 " to invite all secondary students in Hong Kong to join this competition. The competition encourages students to be creative and action-oriented and respond to the theme of "Smart Home" to make Hong Kong to be a more competitive Smart City. 

Students can demonstrate their smart ideas through their own development projects, showing their innovative and creative thinking with originality in the competition to the judging panel on the event day.
